6 Favourites from the Delectable Festival

Brisbane will be on serious display over the next fortnight, proudly showcasing an array of Queensland’s best food, produce and musical talent as part of Delectable Festival 2012.

Comprising three different series – Food, Grow, and Sound – Brisbanites (and visitors) are in for a treat.

Here are my top picks of the Festival:

1. delicious. Produce Awards 2012 | Aria

Kicking off the Festival on July 16, will be the delicious. Produce Awards – to be presented in Brisbane for the first time ever – which will showcase producers and celebrate fresh, seasonal, and sustainable food. Aria owner and chef, Matt Moran, is a judge of the awards and will present his beautiful menu on the night.

2. Regional Flavours weekend | South Bank

Check out 100 of Queensland’s best food and wine producers from 12 different growing regions on July 21 and 22. I will be heading over to the Froth & Bubbles Appreciation Sessions to learn how Queensland’s best wine and beer is created.

3. Chef demonstrations | Southbank

I love seeing great chefs do their thing, and that’s what you’ll get at the Delectable chef demonstrations. From the 21st to the 28th of July, you’ll witness some amazing chefs cooking up a storm – think Matt Moran, Justin North and Luke Nguyen, to name but a few.

4. GROW in the City | Brisbane CBD

Dust off your green thumb and make tracks to the 2.5 x 4 metre living, vertical garden, smack bang in the heart of the city (at Post Office Square). Great for ideas on cultivating gardens in small spaces; I’ll see you there.

5. FOOD BOWL | Brisbane City Botanic Gardens

Wander around the beautiful Botanic Gardens, while indulging in food from some of Brisbane’s best restaurants. Lots of TUL favourites will be there, including 1889 Enoteca, Aria, Ortiga, Harveys, Moda and Urbane.

6. Sounds @ Riverstage | Southbank

Delectable will wrap up its last day in style, concluding with an afternoon of great music at the Riverstage. Bring a blanket and a picnic basket and relax to the sounds of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, Marina Prior and more.
