Bar Menus To Boast About!

Undeniably peckish, but don’t feel like a la di da, three-course dinner? Desperate for a drink after a tough day, and in need of something to nibble on other than the slightly suspicious and god-I-hope-the-last-person-to-put-their-fingers-in-this-bowl-washed-their-hands bar nuts? We’ve got you covered.

Presenting some of the best tapas, mezze and charcuterie floating around, we’re digging (into) these local bar menus.

Canvas | Woolloongabba
Mezze, charcuterie and MYO cheese boards, amongst various other delectable nibbles and grazing plates. Think marinated olives, Spanish meatballs, spicy chipolatas, stuffed peppers, Italian sardines and artisan breads. Top it all off with one of the best cocktails in town and you’ll be one happy camper.

Ortiga | Fortitude Valley
Spanish culinary appreciation reaches new heights at Ortiga. If you’re into cured meats, Ortiga’s bar menu is manna from heaven. It may sound simple, but it’s hard to go past their fabulous selection of jamon, pork loin and chorizo. With meats dangling above the bar like piñatas, it will take every bit of might to walk past this Brunswick Street haunt without salivating.

Esquire | Brisbane CBD
With an equally amazing formal dining and bar menu, you’ll find it hard to choose. If you’re in a bit of a pickle, the bar menu offers an enticing pre fixed deal: 3 courses for $30 or 5 courses for $50. With a special charcoal menu to highlight the quality of the ingredients, you can order simply grilled and seasoned sand squid, scallops, prawns, rainbow trout and wagyu beef. Alternatively, I suggest the braised tongue with cavalo nero juice, honey and quark, or glazed pork ribs. I’m telling you now, Esquire has one of Brisbane’s best bar menus, bar none.

Sardine Tin | South Bank
With an ever-changing European-inspired tapas menu, there will always be something new to tantalise your taste buds. Options include eggplant-stuffed zucchini flowers with spiced yoghurt and Brussels sprouts doused in lemon butter for the vegos, and Wagyu cheek and spiced pork albondigas for the more meat inclined.
Sit back, relax, and indulge, while doing some serious people watching along the South Bank strip.

Mr. & Mrs. G Riverbar | Brisbane CBD
Word on the street is that new kid on the block, Mr. & Mrs. G, is serving up some top-notch bar fare. Opening last Thursday evening, I haven’t yet had the chance to indulge. I’ve penciled it in for Friday evening, so watch this space for the lowdown.
