By Mikaela Mulveney

Riverfire fireworks above Brisbane's skyline

Fire up that group chat and get planning because Riverfire is returning to Brisbane with a bang in 2023. All eyes will be looking to the skies as Brisbane’s biggest fireworks extravaganza hits the river, so it's time to scope out those vantage points to find the perfect spot to witness this stunning event.

Whether you are an avid fan of Riverfire, or witnessing for the first glorious time, you definitely do not want to miss this show. Over 500,000 people will make their way down to the river around various locations in Brisbane to experience a large-scale First Nations led visual spectacle which will celebrate the beauty, creativity and wisdom of Australia’s Indigenous culture. This will be followed by an electrifying pyrotechnics display by Foti Fireworks which will launch from the city's bridges, barges and rooftops across the city.

When Is Riverfire?

Riverfire 2023 will take place on Saturday 2 September, with entertainment from 4pm and the fireworks at 7pm. Like last year, the event will take place during school holidays to launch Brisbane Festival rather than close it, so it is the perfect opportunity for a night out with the kids.

Where Is The Best Place To Watch Riverfire?

Triple M and Channel 9 will be broadcasting the event live for all of you who cannot witness this spectacle in person. But if you do have an opportunity to get down to the river, the best places to watch are from South Bank Parklands (just note that the area will be closed off once it reaches capacity), the Kangaroo Point cliffs, Wilson’s Lookout, Howard Smith Wharves, Captain Burke Park and the City Riverwalk.
