Philip Johnson's Espresso One Eleven

It’s not just any old boring, bottom-level, CBD-building coffee shop… Firstly, it’s Philip Johnson’s and, secondly, it’s not on the ground floor - ride the escalator to Level One of Eagle Street’s shiny new digs, One One One, and you’ll find Espresso One Eleven

I gladly skipped into town last Friday morning to join the city slickers for their #TGIF caffeine fix. Wowed by the sleek black and white fit-out and mod furniture, I ordered myself an All Press Espresso brew.

Perched on an ottoman at one of the tables along the glass façade, I simultaneously perused the brekky menu while doing some serious people watching - birds-eye-style.

Graced with simple, yet equally delicious, fare you’ll find the likes of; almond, oat, cranberry, and raisin crunch served with yoghurt; or a multitude of different toasted breads with avocado and sea salt (or tomato); as well as a glorious looking pumpkin, ricotta, and spring onion savoury muffin.

On my way out I managed to peek through the barracades and scaffolding to spy the soon-to-be, Bistro One Eleven. Seeing not much more than a construction site, I am eager to see what Philip Johnson’s new restaurant has in store. If it’s anything like Brisbane institution, E’cco Bistro, then we have a lot to look forward to.

New CBD haunts seem to be popping up left, right and centre... Stop by Mr & Mrs G Riverbar for a cocktail or two.
