Spring Beauty

It’s spring. Nobody wants to see slathered-on foundation masquerading as face paint melting down over-tanned necks, nor caked on eye makeup and heavy-handed blush drowning out dewy, sun kissed skin.
If I can offer one piece of advice when it comes to summer beauty, it is this:
Lay down your weapons, ladies.
There is nothing more beautiful than a few freckles, slightly flushed cheeks, salt strewn hair, and a little summer glow. Embrace it!
The girls at Sweet Lime and Spiced Tea have shown us how to reinvigorate our skin for the season ahead: now here are a few tricksy tips to help enhance our inner goddess, and avoid drowning her in a flood of melting stage makeup.
Nars Illuminator | Mecca Cosmetica

This is essentially a bottled orgasm. Lending a luminescent, dewy glow to your skin, rather than a glittery vampire sparkle, Nars Illuminators are essential for any beauty bag. This is our hot secret for just-walked-off-the-beach-through-a-salon-and-ran-into-the-love-of-my-life summer skin.
Nars Tinted Moisturiser | Mecca Cosmetica

Foundation and summer are enemies. Always have been, always will be. We recommend ditching the thick paste, and grabbing yourself a bottle of this tinted moisturiser. It is sheer enough to show off your freckles, but has enough oomph to balance out your skin tone and take the edge off blemishes. The key to beautiful skin, is SKIN. Anyone under 35 should be showing off their skin texture, freckles and all, not hiding it under a mask of skin coloured paint.
Stila Sun Shade SPF | Mecca Cosmetica

If you need a little lick of sun, but don’t care much for ultra violet rays, a light dusting of Stila’s Sun Shade bronzer is for you. It’s even SPF 15+, built for Brissie girls!
If you’re very fair-skinned, I would steer away from a lathering of dirt, I-mean-bronzer, and stick to softer pink or peachy tones. If all else fails, remember the cardinal rule, less is more. Yes, this applies to ALL of you (even you lucky olive-skinned goddesses); I will cry if I see anther perfectly lovely cheek stained a chalky browny-orange.
Neon lips | Issada

Freshen any natural look with a splice of neon - orange, pink and coral. The key here is keeping the lip colour matte and your eyes free of shadow/eyeliner/fuss. Glowing skin. Mascara. Lips. Delicious.
