Takeaway Tuesdays | Eastside Edition
I didn't do my grocery shopping on the weekend. Rookie error. Everyone knows that venturing to the supermarket mid week is akin to a slow and painful death.
So, instead of having to survive on canned tuna and bread crusts from the back of the freezer, why not frequent these take-out temptations.
Bringing you Takeaway Tuesdays, round three - live from the Eastside…
Mons Ban Sabai | Camp Hill
Part restaurant, part cooking school, Mons Ban Sabai is sister restaurant to Green Papaya and Pawpaw, which gives you some idea of why this place is a takeaway treat. You'll find all the typical Thai favourites, but their seafood is particularly delish. Try the crispy friend prawns with sweet onion sauce or whole soft shell crabs with sweet and spicy curry sauce - you'll wonder why you ever bothered to cook on a Tuesday night.

Grande Piatto | Camp Hill
Tuesday nights were made for pizza. Possibly with a glass or two of red, to celebrate surviving the week so far. Grande Piatto's pizzas are wood fired, as any great pizza should be, with fresh bases kneaded and tossed daily. If you feel like treating yourself, they'll do any pizza as a Calzone.

Mekkala Thai | Hawthorne
This newly opened gem on Hawthorne Road doesn't look like much, but the food is fresh, tasty and without the extra helping of grease that can feature prominently on the menu at so many Thai takeaway joints. If you can't even muster the energy to wash up your own fork, they've got a few tables and chairs for those who want to dine in, and you can even bring a bottle of wine.
Where: Hawthorne Road in Hawthorne (next to Crust Pizza)
The Fish Factory | Colmslie
The weather is almost warm enough to be at a point where a kilo of prawns from the local fish market counts as dinner for two. No cooking required (although you might need to have a lemon in the bottom of the fridge), it's the ultimate lazy Tuesday meal. Recently reopened after it was gutted by fire, the Fish Factory in Colmslie does fresh seafood until 6pm and plenty of delicious grilled, deep fried or battered options until 7pm.

Great list thanks. Have you tried the new Japanese restaurant on Old Cleveland Rd (at intersection of BennettsRd)? I think it's called Sakura Hut. Leisa
Hi Leisa, thanks for your feedback on the article! I haven't tried out the new Japanese place, although Japanese is one of my favourites. Might have to venture there one night this week and report back on The A List!
