Marketing Manager | Sydney & Melbourne

The Urban List launched in September 2011 as a “go to guide” for everything worth eating, drinking, buying and booking in Brisbane. The site is a showcase of the best local businesses the city has to offer – restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, shopping, health and beauty – sharing our top spots with authenticity and credibility, courtesy of our talented team of marketing, editorial, sales, design and development professionals.
Our integrity has earned us a loyal and rapidly growing readership, and its this same authenticity and passion for small business that we plan to bring to Sydney and Melbourne.
Working with an energetic and nimble team, the Melbourne Marketing Manager and Sydney Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing creative, effective b-to-c and b-to-b marketing plans and campaigns for The Urban List within their respective cities.
A motivational and collaborative leader, the successful candidate will have hands-on experience managing a team, as well as getting their own hands dirty, working together with their team to achieve goals and contribute to business growth.
As a start up organisation, culture is critical. We are looking for a Marketing Manager in each city who shares our passion for The Urban List, is eager to work in environment where growth and change happens daily, and where collaboration and communication is key.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and implement effective, creative B-to-C and B-to-B marketing plans and campaigns
- Manage and motivate a team of marketing & communications executives and sales representatives to achieve business development goals
- Establish and manage annual budgets, traffic and sales targets; analysing variances and providing insights to The Urban List team
- Monitor and report on campaign results and return on investment
- Collaborate with sales and editorial team members to ensure creative, effective solutions for our customers
- Maintain exceptional customer service standards, developing processes and procedures to ensure client satisfaction
- Work closely with team members across all cities to ensure seamless collaboration, and efficient leveraging of marketing activities
- Identify key market opportunities and trends, and engage in industry best practices – particularly with regard to digital marketing strategy
- Take an active role in developing your own marketing education, and building the skill sets of other team members
KEY REQUIREMENTS
- Min. 5 years experience in online marketing. Management of sales teams a plus.
- Strong leadership skills, with a proven record of achieving marketing and sales targets
- Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
- Hands on experience establishing and implementing digital marketing campaigns, including email marketing, online advertising, SEO and social media marketing
- Public relations expertise a plus
- Excellent organisational and management skills
- Flexibility to travel – some travel will be required
- Desire to collaborate with, and contribute to, a proactive start up team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Tertiary qualifications in Business, Marketing or Public Relations
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Full-time, permanent position with a 3 month probation period
