Takapuna Beach Cafe is as much an iconic part of summer beach days as it is of the North Shore hospo scene as a whole and as of July '25 they've scored their first ever liquor license meaning this daytime fave can now also be enjoyed under moonlight.
The extended hours (and new evening menu) are one in a string of iterations—like their churned-on-site kawakawa gelato and the hypeworthy fish and chip summer pop up of '24—that ensure this humming spot remains at the top of their game, year in and year out.
Being beachside it only makes sense for their new menu to spotlight seafood, from bisque butter mussels to Moreton Bay bugs spiked with chilli ranch, but there's plenty of non-seafood options too (most notably their lamb rump), and a baby Caesar salad that absolutely slaps.
Top tip: for now their license has a strict 8pm cut-off so it's best to head here for an early feed, ideally around 6pm.
