The verdict

Hotel Steyne is one of Manly’s best-kept secrets. It has been around since 1859 (yes, really), and there’s a whole lot more to this local gem than meets the eye.

Smack bang on the beachfront, Hotel Steyne is made up of The Steyne (think pub grub), Moonshine Bar (aka live music, strong drinks and casual eats) and the oh-so instaworthy Glasshouse (for whenever you want cocktails with a view).

If you’re after a god damn delicious pub feed after work or ice-cold frothy post-swim, you need to seat yourself at The Steyne on the ground floor. With a menu boasting allllllll the classics like nachos, chicken parmy, and bangers and mash—the portions are large and the food is tasty. Dishing up pizzas, burgers, fresh seafood as well as seasonal salads daily, it’s the kind of place you should stay all day so you can try one of everything.

Upstairs, you’ll find the Moonshine Bar. Known for its killer live music—that’s 100% free—the three moondogs are all you need to know about when you hear your tummy grumble mid-gig. Kind of like a gourmet hotdog, the BBQ pulled pork moondog (infused with Jack Daniels) is our fave. What could be better than pulled pork, fennel, apple slaw, whole pilparras and peri-peri mayo? Nothing. Unless you’re vego, of course. Stuffed with sweet potato and smoked sauerkraut, that’s really not a bad option either.

When it comes to cocktails, the only place you need to be is The Glasshouse on the rooftop. With a gin focus, there’s a whole heap of botanical cocktails to make your way through before devouring their entire shared plates menu and epic cheeseboards. After all, nothing beats sitting back on a balmy summer night, sipping cocktails and eating cheese after a tough day of tanning. Did we mention gin cocktails are only $10 a pop every Thursday and Friday between 5pm - 7pm?

Perfect for a Sunday sesh or laidback date, there’s something for everyone—even your fussiest friends.
