A Pop-Up Tattoo Parlour, Rum Bar And Exhibition Is Coming!

By Catherine Blake
24th Jul 2017

From the man who brought you the swashbuckling sparrows, anchors, sharks and the iconic pin-up of our favourite spiced rum comes art exhibition-come-pop-up tattoo parlour, Origins Of Original: a travelling showcase of worldly wonders from your bessie bar mate, Sailor Jerry.

The drink for fancy pirates, Sailor Jerry is known not just for its bold and balanced flavours (we're all about 'dat spice) but also for its iconic label from the tattoo artist namesake, Mr. Norman Collins.

Since inking his first tatt, Collins’ work has gathered an almost cult following for the precision and beauty of his designs. With Collins' work coming to Australia for the first time as part of a dedicated celebration of his work, the Origins Of Original exhibition will showcase his iconic pieces by way of a travelling shipping container gallery full of Collins’ original sketches, rubbings and acetate drawings for one night only at six different locations across Australia.

In keeping with Collins’ legacy as the original pioneer of ‘flash art’, every event will feature a local tattoo artist doling out flash-style tattoos to every patch of willing bare skin in the place, as well as some live beats by local bands and Sailor Jerry rum behind the bar because what kind of rumpus would it be without some extreme sound and a snifter of spiced rum?

Come down, witness the spectacle, and take home a little souvenir on your chest.
