The Beautiful Igloo Bars You’ll Wanna Hunt Down This Winter

By Jessica Pridmore
20th May 2017

SE Queensland may not endure sub-zero degree temps, nor will we ever know the nose-numbing pain of commuting through sleet and snow, but, gee whizz do we love a themed pop-up bar!

To celebrate the fact it no longer feels like a sauna outside, stunning wintery-looking igloo bars have popped up just up the highway—along the Brisbane River.

In partnership with Absolut Vodka, Customs House are kicking off their winter season, bringing chic Nordic style and chilled vodka to the sub-tropics—and we LOVE it!

With stunning views of the Brisbane River, the igloos are draped in Nordic-style faux furs, luxurious armchairs perfect for whiling away a chilly evening, and chic AF décor that feels more like a cabin in Norway than the Brisbane CBD.

On the drinks menu inside these plush winter wonderlands are a selection of hand-crafted winter cocktails (using signature Absolut vodka, and their Spiced Absolut Winter, of course), and hand-picked wines, beers, and spirits that match the wintery vibes.

Food-wise, you can’t go past the cheese platter featuring Swiss Gruyere and triple cream brie, alongside hearty Nordic bites like venison stew, and crispy pork cheek sliders. Our pick? The chocolate fondue (naturally) accompanied with strawberries and marshmallows for dipping and toasting!

So what are you waiting for? Break out the winter woollies and make a beeline up the highway for Brisbane’s coolest pop-up bar. For more info, hit up The Absolut Igloo Bar site.
