7 Things To Gift Yourself This Christmas

By Urban List Writers
30th Oct 2018

Giving to the ones you love and spending quality time with them is at the core of Christmas. But let’s be real, with all the coveted collections, events and cool collabs flooding our feeds this time of year, it’s just so goddamn hard to resist – and sometimes you've got to treat yourself.

We certainly don't judge when it comes to splashing some hard-earned cash on a little something something for yourself; you deserve to have yourself a merry little Christmas. So, to celebrate, we’ve teamed up with Personalised Plates Queensland to bring you a lavish list of indulgences we’ll be gifting ourselves this Christmas, and they’re total #lifegoals. Now, repeat after us: “Because I deserve it.”

#1 The Coolest Carry-On

The holiday season means just that: it's time for a holiday. And if you’re lucky enough to be jetting off somewhere exotic this year, there is some new luxury luggage we’re dying to get our hands on. Topping our faves list is the Off-White x Rimowa collab. The completely transparent design is oozing with travel cred, and you’re pretty much guaranteed to be the coolest person picking up at baggage claim.

Our Pick: Off-Whie x Rimowa, From $1,300

#2 Personalised plates

These days, personal branding is everything, and if you’re monogram mad like us, we think personalised plates are the perfect life addition.

And trust us when we say, the customisation possibilities are cool. From two-character plates to seven, electric colours to themed, take your style to the streets, stand out from the crowd and stamp your own personality on your car. And if you finalise your order by December 7, you’ll be riding around with new plates before Christmas.

Our Pick: Personalised Plates, From $165

#3 A Gold Hairdryer

As Mick Jagger once famously said: “Anything worth doing is worth overdoing.” So, when it comes to blow drying our hair, why shouldn’t we rip a page straight from Jagger’s handbook and achieve lush locks with a 23.75 karat gold Dyson Supersonic hair dryer? Just saying.

Extra? Yes. Indulgent? Very. But even without its gold embellishments, the hair dryer is worth the coin. Combining drying and straightening, the coveted gadget has beauty bloggers declaring it’s ‘life-changing’.

Our Pick: 23.75 karat gold Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, $700

#4 Audacious Activewear

‘Tis the season to… eat and drink ‘til our heart’s content, so slotting in some workout time for both your body and mind is imperative to keeping your silly season sprits high. But one must look the part (well, that’s what we tell ourselves anyway).

We’re always lusting after P.E Nation’s retro-inspired, fashion-forward designs and their latest athleisure range is no different. We plan to channel our inner Farrah Fawcett this summer in the bold blue Salute Knit tracksuit.

Our Pick: P.E Nation Salute Knit Pant, $229 or P.E Nation Salute Knit, $220

#5 A Sunny Staycation

If you couldn’t make it to Palm Springs this year, we think we’ve found a solid (if not better) substitute. Brisbane’s recently opened $100 million Calile Hotel is what staycation dreams are made of. Dubbed a luxury ‘urban resort’, The Calile Hotel is a contemporary oasis complete with a 30-metre palm tree-lined pool. Think blush hues, marble minimalism and brass accents – oomph! Can we move in?

Our advice? Leave the daily grind at the door, kick your shoes off and order a dozen oysters because this hotel is one you won’t want to leave.

Our Pick: Calile Hotel, From $250 a night

#6 Designer Kicks

Chunky sneakers are having a moment and we are loving it.

Acne Studio is leading the charge with their oh-so-fabulous Technical Sneakers and we’re leading the investment kicks movement. Based on ‘90s American urban sportswear, the colourful collection is never too far from our thoughts. Sure, the price is on par with a share house bond, but our cost-per-wear breakdown will surely help you put it into perspective *wickedly laughs*.

Our Pick: Acne Studio Technical Sneakers, $700

#7 Day Spa Treatment

Queensland’s colourful East Coast is brimming with stunning day spas and retreats, and this time of year is perfect to recover and rejuvenate. You'll find us unwinding at One Wybelenna with a Classic Half Day Package. At $360, you can relish 30 minutes in the outdoor Magna Spa & Pool, a 45-minute Aromatic Sea Salt Full Body Scrub, a 45-minute Relaxation Massage and a 45-minute Skin Rejuvenation Facial. If that doesn’t sound like absolute bliss we don’t know what does.

Our Pick: One Wybelenna Classic Half Day Package, $360
