Outdoor movie powerhouse, Open Air Cinema, has teamed up with Disney+ to get Australians out and about in a COVID-safe fashion with a contactless drive-in cinema.
After being stuck indoors for a good part of the year, the much-needed social outings are set to take place in Brisbane first at the Northshore Riverfront Event Space, screening nothing but bangers from the Disney+ catalogue between Thursday 17 September and Sunday 18 October. Sydney is second in line, beginning on Thursday 22 October at Bankwest Stadium, while Melbourne is on hold for obvious reasons.
On the bill are blockbusters, mood-lifters and classics, including a timely screening of Black Panther following the passing of lead actor Chadwick Boseman. You’ll also find several throwbacks like 10 Things I Hate About You and Up scheduled across your city’s month-long program.
Anyone who’s perused the Disney+ catalogue from the comfort of their own home will be aware of the diverse selection of films available, and the same can be said for their drive-in with your Mrs Doubtfire’s covered off just as the Star Wars chronology is, too.
Passes for Brisbane are on sale now, coming in at $42 for a car of two and $52.75 for cars of three or more. As expected, tickets are being snapped up at haste, so it’s recommended you bite the bullet and get yours sooner rather than later. Keep an eye out for Sydney tickets, and Melbourne’s confirmed dates, here.
While you’re at it, find out how you can get your hands on tickets to Hamilton in Sydney, 2021 here.
