Pass The Tissues, A P.S I Love You Sequel Is Finally In The Works

It’s been a whopping 13 years since our hearts were collectively torn out of our chests when P.S I Love You hit cinemas.

In case you missed it, the book-to-movie adaption from Cecelia Ahern goes like this: When Holly (Hilary Swank) loses her husband Gerry (Gerard Butler) to illness, she’s left without her best friend and the love of her life. Knowing how hard Holly will take his death, Gerry plans ahead penning her a series of letters designed to ease her grief and encourage her to move forward to a new life. Cue the tears.

But before you dry your eyes, you’ll want to keep those tissues close because Ahern has just dropped the news that she wrote a sequel and the movie rights have already been snapped up by Alcon Entertainment.

The sequel, called Postscript, takes place seven years after Gerry’s death and thankfully Holly has moved on—she’s got a new job and she’s fallen in love. After speaking about her experience with Gerry in a podcast, Holly is approached by a group called the PS I Love You Club made up of people who are terminally ill and ask Holly to help them write their letters for their loved ones. Yep, we said you’d need tissues. The process causes Holly to look at the letters from Gerry’s perspective and forces her to question whether they helped or hindered her grieving process.

While there’s no news if Swank or Butler have signed on for the next movie one thing is for sure, this flick will break your heart all over again. Weep!
