It might have only been three years ago that we farewelled the twisted teen drama, Pretty Little Liars, but already a reboot is in the works, and honestly, we’re not mad.
The drama, which ran for seven seasons, took place in the small suburban town of Rosewood and centred on a group of genetically blessed high school besties whose lives were torn apart when one night, during a sleepover, their queen B Alison went missing.
In the years that followed, a mysterious character by the name of “A” tormented them. Messing with everything from their grades to their relationships, even going as far as murder. Yep, it was seriously twisted, utterly ridiculous and totally addictive.
According to reports the reboot, which is still currently in the development stage, will be helmed by Riverdale showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa who will pen the new script.
Joining him to executive produce the new series is Gina Girolamo (The Vampire Diaries and The Originals) Leslie Morgenstein who was behind Gossip Girl (original and reboot), You and The 100. So safe to say, it’s in good hands.
No word yet if any of the OG cast will be returning or if series creator I. Marlene King will be joining the reboot. However, just earlier this year, Lucy Hale (who played PLL nice girl Aria Montgomery) said in an interview to Entertainment Tonight that if there was a reboot she’d want to produce it herself because she’s “way too protective of it.” We stan that!
And for those of you who are thinking, can a show really score a reboot when it only ended a few years ago? We say, remember when we could travel overseas? Yep, the world be crazy right now and we’ll welcome any new form of entertainment, reboot or not.
As soon as new deets drop, we’ll let you know right here. In the meantime, you can binge-watch all seven season on Pretty Little Liars on Netflix.
