Have you ever wanted to jump into The Little Mermaid and witness the underwater world full of magic for yourself? Well, now you can stop imagining, book flights to Shanghai and make your dreams come true.
Brought to us by teamLab, the geniuses behind Tokyo’s Mori Digital Art Museum, Shanghai officially has an equivalent that you need to experience. The Universe of Water Particles in the Tank sounds a little obscure, but it’s actually the ultimate immersive art exhibition, and it’s opening next month.
The main highlight of this exhibition is the enormous digital waterfall that flows into the tank, which you’re able to touch and obstruct the flow as if it were real. If you visit the museum while in Shanghai (which you definitely will) you can enjoy five other amazing digital works including Flowers and People. This stunning display allows you to witness the incredible changes flowers go through over a year in just one hour. It’ll certainly be a meditative experience if you have the time to sit back and watch it all unfold.
The inaugural display is scheduled to run from 23 March to 24 August and tickets start from upwards of $40.
We’re pretty jealous that Perth doesn’t have a borderless digital museum yet, but hey, the more excuses for a holiday the better.
