With some pretty terrifying news bulletins hitting us thick and fast, the devastating effect of COVID-19 can render us all a little helpless. But there’s something we really want you to know, whether you’re practising physical distancing or are in self isolation, there’s actually so much you can do to help people and industries in need.

While we’re loving seeing you order takeout from your favourite local eateries and purchase vouchers for future use, there’s another industry that needs your help, and they need it now.

We’re talking about our banging music scene. They’ve blessed our ears with their sweet beats and now they need our help, because all of those festivals and shows that have been cancelled—that’s their livelihood.

Enter, the Music Industry Taskforce, a collection of industry peeps—and includes everyone from Apple to ARIA—that are banding together to bring hope and help to musicians and performers. Today they’ve launched Sound Of Silence, or SOS—because yep, they’re sending out an SOS and we need to answer their call.

The national initiative is striving to bring immediate relief for an industry that is on the brink. So what can you do? Head to their website here, and if you’re in a financial position to do so, donate some coin to Support Act, a music charity that provides crisis relief services to artists, roadies and music workers who are affected at this time.

In the absence of touring, buying merch from your favourite artists is an instant investment in their career. The SOS online superstore has links to hundreds of musician’s and their merch. Or you can grab an SOS custom tee, designed by Jack Irvine, with all proceeds going to Support Act.

The site is also packed with info and tips on ways you can support our Aussie artists that won’t cost you a cent. It might sound cliché but truly, every little bit helps.

We know we’ve asked a lot of you guys lately, but it’s time to band together and support our talented creatives. Head here for more details.

In the meantime, be sure to jam out at home to the online music festival happening this weekend.
