Spring Has Sprung, Here Are 3 Cocktail Recipes You Can Master Using Ingredients Grown At Home

The days are longer, the mercury is rising and flowers are blooming everywhere. Spring has officially arrived and you can literally feel the change in the air. And this delightful shift to warmer weather calls for a new repertoire of spring-inspired cocktails to replace our winter whiskeys, only made even better with fresh ingredients you can grow at home.

Gin Cucumber Crisper

It’s refreshing, sustainable (since you’re harvesting most of the ingredients straight from your garden) and it’s super easy to shake up. It’s simple enough for even the most novice of mixologists but also aesthetic and tasty enough to impress any guests you’ve invited around.


  • 30 ml gin 
  • 4-6 slices of cucumber
  • 1/4 of lime (sliced)
  • 120 ml tonic water
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar (optional but I highly recommend)


  1. Add mint, lime, gin, and sugar to shaker and muddle.
  2. Add cucumber slices to the shaker and shake.
  3. Pour mixture over a glass filled with ice and top with tonic water.
  4. Stir and let sit for a few minutes for the flavours to enhance and get sipping!

Spicy Frozen Margarita

You’re going to need to break out the blender for this one. All things zesty, tangy and fresh, there’s not much better than sipping a spicy marg on a warm spring afternoon. 


  • 1/2 cup cucumber (peeled, seeded, and chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 80 ml key lime juice
  • 6 mint leaves (chopped)
  • 80 ml tequila
  • 15 ml orange liqueur
  • 2 dashes hot sauce (like Tobasco)
  • 6 ice cubes
  • Optional: salt (for rim)
  • Garnish: 2 cucumber slices


  1. Rim two margarita glasses with salt, using a lime wedge or cucumber slice to wet the edges.
  2. In a blender, combine the cucumber, sugar, key lime juice, mint, tequila, orange liqueur, and hot sauce. Blend for one minute.
  3. Pour equally into the prepared glasses and garnish with a cucumber slice.

Cherry Tomato Margarita

Get your daily dose of vitamins with a cheeky cherry tomato marg. Sure, we love bloody mary’s but we reckon you’ll quickly fall in love with this unique take on a traditional recipe. 


  • Coarse or flaked sea salt
  • 3-4 sweet yellow cherry tomatoes
  • Pinch coarse or flaked sea salt
  • 3 tablespoons silver tequila
  • 1 tablespoon orange liqueur
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon simple syrup
  • Cherry tomatoes for garnish


  1. Rim a glass with coarse salt and set aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker combine cherry tomatoes and a pinch of salt; muddle the tomatoes until broken up and juiced.
  3. Add tequila, orange liqueur, lime juice, simple syrup, and ice; and shake well until chilled.
  4. Double strain into an ice-filled glass. Garnish with a few cherry tomatoes on a bamboo skewer, if desired.
