Summer Beauty Hacks To Get You Through The Warmer Months

Summer is well and truly here, and your beauty routine will need to change in order to accommodate the warmer weather. If you're prone to sweat it up once the mercury tops 25 (and let's face it, our balmy climate just about guarantees it) you're going to need to keep reading for some summer beauty tips to keep you feeling, and looking, fresh.

Never Skip Sunscreen 

In news that will surprise absolutely nobody, protecting your skin from those harmful UV rays is the most important thing you can do in summer. Not only does wearing sunscreen on the daily protect your skin from potential skin cancer, but it also helps prevent the ageing effect UV rays have on our skin. Trust us on this one, wear your damn sunscreen.

Ease Up On That Base

Keeping things lightweight in the warmer months is crucial, so ease up your base layer to keep your skin looking (and feeling) fresh. Swap out a heavy foundation for a tinted moisturiser, or mix your sunscreen with a little foundation for lighter coverage with extra protection. Choose a base with added SPF and you're laughing.

Embrace The Glow

Ditch the matte look and embrace the dewy—chances are you’re going to sweat it up anyway. Invest in layerable products; think creamy longwear eyeshadows, gel blushes and dewy highlighters that will last all day.

@chantecaille — Skin Tint and Gel-cream Blush (a.k.a. Cheek Gelée). My favorites for summer! I use the tint when my skin is clear - it gives a nice smooth light coverage. It won’t hide much, but does a great job in balancing the tone in a very natural way. Cheek Gelée is one of my favorite blushes at the moment! I prefer this blush to @glossier cloud paint: it’s way easier to use (with cloud paint I squeeze way too much and it’s a little too pigmented), it has nice “fresh” shimmer and stays for hours! I always thought Chantecaille is not “my brand”, I don’t connect with it organically but everything I tried is interesting & works great! $74 for Skin Tint and $44 for Cheek Gelée — 4/5 for both. Wait no! This gel-cream blush deserves a 4.5/5, it’s my favorite texture! ��

Get Salty

Washing and drying your hair everyday is taxing on your locks, stripping your hair of its natural oils that keep it clean and healthy, so try extending that blow dry by investing in a sea salt spray. A great way to add texture and give volume to your hair (humidity is a killer for volume), it’s also a great option for when you don’t have time to wash your hair (no judgement, we've all been there). Going from the gym straight to work? Sea salt spray is your saviour.

Give Good Lashes

Chalk this one off as a bit of a luxury; lash extensions require some level of commitment (plus a healthy amount of cash in the bank) but ultimately will save you bulk time if you're so inclined. Providing a fresh-eyed 'I woke up like this' look,  extensions mean you don’t need to fret about mascara—waterproof or otherwise—, meaning no panda eyes, just fluttery, full lashes for days.

Mix Up Your Moisturiser

Having seasonal moisturisers can be a great thing for your skincare routine, especially when summer hits, as a thick facial cream can congest pores and feel sticky to the touch. Replace your heavier creams for lighter formulas like gels or lotions and keep a bottle of facial mist handy at your desk or in your bag to keep skin feeling dewy throughout the day.
