So, we get it, you spent a little too much dosh this summer sipping on frozé and your bank account is looking a bit dry. We’ve all been there and, while it is rough at the time, the drought will soon pass.

The New Zealand Fashion Museum presents Walk the Walk: a History of Fashion in the City. A little birdie told us that there will be a prize draws on the day.

#3 Auckland International Cultural Festival 2017
Are you ready to eat your way around the world? The Auckland International Cultural Festival is back for another year and we are ready! There will be no stopping us. The stage will host live cultural performances throughout the day, 100 vendors serving up 50 different cuisines and loads of activities. So be ready to leave with a full tum and new cultured you.

#4 Free Cone Day At Ben And Jerry’s
Since the opening of Ben and Jerry’s last year, us Aucklanders have been obsessed and we mean OBSESSED with Ben and Jerry’s—and with good reason! They scoop up delish ice cream in the most delectable flavours. Visit the stores on April 4th and await your free ice cream. Previous free cone days have been nothing less than a success, so we recommend you to queue in early!

#5 Movies In Parks: Three Wise Cousins
While summer may be over, outdoor cinemas are not gone just yet. Three Wise Cousins is a hilarious romantic comedy about the journey of a 22-year-old Samoan Kiwi on his quest for love. He travels back home to Samoa in the hopes of impressing a girl who likes ‘real islanders’ luckily enough he has two cousins that are able to guide him to becoming a true Samoan.

#6 Movies In Parks: Mary Poppins
We all remember the childhood classic that is Mary Poppins and, while the young’ins of today might not be acquainted with this all-time favourite, it’s never too late to do so. Mary basically introduced us to magic, because really, how did she manage to fit so much in such a little bag? Now’s the chance to revisit your childhood favourites. You can be sure we’ll be there faster than you can say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

#7 Royal Easter Show
Hot cross buns, bunnies and a whole lotta chocolate…yes, folks, April brings Easter to us and we couldn’t be more excited. It’s fair to say that even though it’s still weeks away we’ve already started consuming unhealthy amounts of chocolate. Nothing wrong with starting early, right? The annual Royal Easter Show returns to the ASB Showgrounds for another year so make sure you hop along. And, from the 13th-16th there will be epic firework displays at 9pm.

#8 Big Dog Walk With Lots Of Dogs
Calling all dog lovers! If you have a pup bring your pup, if you don’t have one come along anyway, and if you’re a cat person, well then….maybe stay at home. Last year’s event brought thousands of pups and their owners—just picture pugs, beagles, labradors, poms and greyhounds alike going for a walk together. It’s a dog-lovers dream. While technically not a totally free evet, you can be assured that your gold coin donation will go 100% towards Passion for Paws.

#9 Illuminate 2017: New Zealanders On The Western Front
The Auckland Museum is hosting Illuminate 2017, your chance to view rarely-seen footage of the Western Front. Scenes from the front line and footage from an All Blacks vs France rugby game (played during wartime) will be projected onto the muesem. This family-friendly event will definitely draw the crowds, so make sure you get in early for a prime viewing spot.

#10 ANZAC Dawn Service
Rise up before the crack of dawn and head to the Auckland War Memorial Museum to honour and commemorate those who gave their lives at Gallipoli. If you’re not so much of an early bird, they’ve got a Civic service at 11am. There’s much more to ANZAC Day than ANZAC Day cookies, as delicious as they are.
