Oh hello weekend! There are so many awesome things to do in Auckland this weekend that locals will find it difficult to choose what to do. From a cocktail pop-up to stage shows, to a great night out in K Road to markets and street eats, so get out those diaries and start planning.
World Class House Pop-Up | Ponsonby Post Office Building
Love a cocktail as much as we do? Head along to the Ponsonby Post Office Building where five bartenders from Auckland and Wellington battle it out in the final stage of the New Zealand leg of the global cocktail competition, Diageo World Class. The pop-up will be open to the public during the evening and you’ll be able to meet the bartenders, taste premium cocktails, and walk through interactive cocktail stations with the bartenders themselves. Find out the deets here.
Disney On Ice Presents Magical Ice Festival | Vector Arena
If you’re hooked on Disney, then this weekend you need to head to Vector Arena for Disney On Ice’s Magical Ice Festival. Experience an all new twist on fairytale fun, with a superstar cast showcasing adventurous moments from The Little Mermaid, Tangled and Beauty and the Beast. Plus, for the first time ever, there it will include some of your favourite characters from Frozen including Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, Olaf and more.
Leilani | Q Theatre
The first work to be staged by Mahuika Theatre Company, Leilani is a comedic melodrama that asks the audience to take a real look at the society we live in. The show tells the story of Leilani, who is discarded by the people who supposedly loved her the most. Homeless, friendless and expecting, Leilani searches for a home in the most unlikely of places. This quick and heart warming tale is not to be missed.

First Thursdays - Great Light Way | K Road
Visitors to K Road’s late night event First Thursdays can expect to—quite literally—‘see the light’ with a theme of The Great Light Way. There will be under verandah lighting, as well as window displays remaining light until late which will combine with colourful flashing neon advertising to create a dazzling ‘Broadway’ feeling along Auckland’s most infamous strip. Fire dancers, light sculptures, dancers performing with luminous hula hoops and coloured displays triggered by electronic music are just some of the exhibitions to be featured.
The Rat Pack | ASB Theatre
Join the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra as they join forces with The Rat Pack for one night only to celebrate music from an era when fellows were dressy and girls were dazzling. For just one night, the Aotea Centre becomes a Vegas lounge for a show led by Tim Beveridge A.K.A Mr Entertainment. Great New Zealand singers will be crooning some of your favourite hits including ‘Mambo Italiano’, ‘That’s Amore’ and ‘I’ve Got You Under My Skin’. So sharpen up that outfit and get ready to snap your fingers to a night of swingin cool.
