From bingo and a meaty five-course dinner to theatre performances and a hot sauce festival, there’s something for each and everyone of you. Here are our picks of the 12 most legit things to do this weekend in Auckland. Happy weekend’ing!

All Weekend

Everything Anyone Ever Wanted | Q Theatre

If there’s one thing you do this weekend, it should be to check out Everything Anyone Ever Wanted at Q Theatre. This theatrical dance performance explores the world through a restless and overwhelmed millennial perspective—something we can all relate to, huh? Created by one of Auckland’s best young choreographers, Natalie Maria Clark, the show is a melting-pot of dance, theatre, projected imagery and an original music score. Brace yourself for an emotional rollercoaster as the piece delves into the ideas of higher housing and education costs, decreased attachment to religion and meaningful life philosophy and a greater dependence on technology. Grab tickets here.

New Zealand Dance Company: Tamaki Tour | Aotea Centre Saturday & Bruce Mason Centre Sunday

Check out New Zealand Dance Company’s Tamaki Tour on Saturday (Aotea Centre) and Sunday (Bruce Mason Centre). Kicking off at 10.30am, you’ll witness a collection of short works by some of the country’s best young choreographers as well as a piece by the company’s Tupua Tigafua. After the show, they’ll be a dance workshop and it’s all hands on deck—or should we say feet on the dancefloor—as you learn some of the moves yourself. For more details, click here.

Love N Stuff | The Auckland Performing Arts Centre (TAPAC)

If you’re after a bit of a chuckle this weekend (or next!), check out Love N Stuff. Set at Auckland International Airport, the comedic theatre performance brings together a cast of 14 actors for a story of love, attachment and the definition of home. Love N Stuff follows the story of Mansoor of Sandringham who walks out of his 35-year-long marriage for some sunshine in Delhi. His wife Bindi is determined to stop him and follows him to the airport—armed with hot bhajjiyas. The show is guaranteed to pull on the heart strings and induce a few chuckles. Get your tickets here.

Auckland Festival Of Photography | Various Locations

Friday marks your last chance to check out Auckland Festival of Photography. Held at various venues across the city including Silo 6, The Pah Homestead and Auckland Art Gallery, the festival celebrates and showcases the art of photography.
