Doc Edge Film Festival

The 12th annual Doc Edge Film Festival is back and kicking off at Q Theatre! Get excited, as it is headlined by ‘Whitney Can I Be Me’, the poignant and insightful life story of the endlessly iconic Whitney Houston. That’s not all—the full program offers 49 feature length films and 20 short films, showcasing the top-tier of international and New Zealand-made documentaries. Don’t limit yourself to one, pick a couple and make a weekend of it!

Wood Craft Festival 2017

Watch the process from log to artwork, as both emerging and established artists create a piece of work ‘on the fly’ over 7 days. This woodcraft festival has been on the North Shore events calendar for the last 20 years AND one of New Zealand’s first sculpture outdoor exhibitions! There’ll be artist talks, interactive activities for kids and demonstrations. Get to this FREE event to see some spectacular out of the ordinary art!

Swabhoomi: Borrowed Earth

The history of Indians in New Zealand comes to life in this stunning masterpiece. Prayas Theatre Company, renowned for their comedic and satirical works, has pushed their talents to new heights in this poignant historical piece. Follow the tracks of the first Indians in New Zealand to the modern issues of what it means to be a migrant today. Swabhoomi merges theatre, movement, puppetry, poetry and music to create this incredibly moving and real piece fusing the light-hearted moments to the more serious issues as an Indian Kiwi in current political climates.

Fabulously Pink

Join MR TOMS for a Friday morning breakfast to start off your weekend right. Raising money for Pink Ribbon, it's a champagne breakfast with a glass of bubbles on arrival, whilst you mix and mingle for half an hour, before a breakfast starting at 9am! Expect a few surprises on the day and prizes to top it all off! All proceeds go to fighting the very important research and support for Breast Cancer Foundation New Zealand.

Big Buddies & Long Lunches

Big Buddy is a award-winning charity that works from a simple philosophy that boys need great male role models in their life in order to become great men, and offer support to do exactly that. The Flying Moa are hosting a long lunch in celebration and support for this deserving charity, and you’re invited! Cabaret de Paris

Local Food Kitchen

Get out of town and head straight for Matakana's Local Food Kitchen. Perfect for groups, chef Chef Mark Griffiths will give you a guided tour through the famous Matakana Farmers' Market, introducing you to the local growers and sampling produce. Trust us, you may have been to the markets before, but there is so much more than meets the eye! You'll then head back to the Local Food Kitchen for a group cooking class, where chef will teach you culinary tips (life skills!). The best part, you get to eat ALL the food afterwards in their beautiful private dining room!
