Oh weekend, how ready we are for you! From carnivals, festivals, chocolate creations and a doggy day out, you’re really dishing out the goods in Tamaki Makaurau! We totally get if you’re counting down the days/hours/minutes to the weekend, because it’s looking so very mighty fine! Round up the troops—here are our picks for things to do in Auckland this weekend.

Pleasuredome The Musical

What you’re about to witness is part of musical history! Immerse yourself into the Manhattan streetscape that’s made its home in Avondale. Your journey begins as you’re transported back in time to the heart-stopping, booty-shaking, mythical Pleasuredome nightclub. This is the night you never dreamt possible. Lucy Lawless is Sappho, the sexy diva whose lavish performances have made Pleasuredome synonymous with glamour and excess, and is joined by a 20-strong cast of local and international movers and shakers (literally!) lit up by state of the art light and projection. This story of desire, addiction, greed and the power of love will take you back in time like you never thought possible.

GMG Low & Slow BBQ Feast At Grand Central

BBQ lovers, get a load of this! What if we told you, you could get amongst some cold beers, wood smoked pork ribs, mouth-watering kransky, garlic bread and so much more? Though it sounds too good to be true, trust us, it’s totally happening and you’re invited. GMG will be cooking delicious Low & Slow style BBQ on the Green Mountain Wood grill and lip-smacking GMG rubs and sauces.  Get yo’ smoke on!

Love Me Tinder

The path of love isn’t always easy in this age of Tinder, and this comedy musical is for anyone with a smartphone and an open heart. Following sell-out shows at Auckland Live’s International Cabaret Season, it has been rewritten to include all original songs. Follow Zoe and Daren who meet on Tinder who are compatible in so many ways. But it’s the very app that has brought them together that offers on-going temptations that threaten to tear them apart. Witness at close hand the train wreck of a Tinder date going disastrously off the rails—who knows, you might even relate!

Hell Horror Fest NZ

You thought the weird tingling sensation from Halloween horrors were over? You thought wrong. Expect your bedroom light to stay strictly on after this one! Serving you up all the chills and frights all weekend, horror comes in all forms here—make your way around the horror maze as you get terrorised by the spooky souls living within, and run back to the safety of your own car and watch the night’s horror movie of choice! If the living bajeezus wasn’t scared of you this Halloween, you know where to go this weekend… if you dare.

Te Pō

Where is the playwright Bruce Mason? Why has he suddenly gone missing? What made him leave his desk in such a hurry and disappear into the night? Te Pō investigates his disappearance led by Detective Inspector Brett. He immediatelty finds two prime suspects waiting in Bruce’s study, the local minister Reverend Athol Sedgwick who is hiding something, and the blind Werihe. This production is all about love outlasting death, and about love waiting in the dark for you to find her again.

Big Buddy: Lula’s Charity Long Lunch

Hosted by rugby legend Ian Jones and a line-up of special guest speakers, eat and drink the arvo away with a five-course menu crafted by Sam Clark matched with five local beverages. With raffles and priceless auction items all raising funds for Big Buddy, it’s the perfect excuse to get out of he office and celebrate the warmer weather—all for a good cause! Proceeds of this event go to Big Buddy, a mentoring charity working on the simple philosophy that boys need good male role models in their lives to become good men.

World In A Day Foodie Walking Tour

Beer & Bones

Balmy days with a beer in hand, what could be better? If your pooch could be there with you, of course! It's the first Sunday of the month which means The Lumsden Freehouse is inviting everyone and their dog to enjoy the lazy summer days ahead. For the pups, The Sawmill Brewery is hooking it up with their doggy treats crafted out of spent grain, and for us more beer-inclined, there’s enough of Sawmill beer to go around and smooth tunes to keep you going all day—talk about a win win!
