Listen up—this weekend is so full of crazy good times, we’re demanding you to start the countdown to Friday 5pm ASAP. This weekend is like no other with a glorious variety of events for everyone, from celebrating Chinese New Year, movies under the stars, Auckland Pride and one epic activewear sale. Oh, did we mention you could be dining 50 meters above the sky, scoffing down vegan deliciousness and even going to an inner-city farm?! Yep, Auckland really has it all this weekend so it’s time to get planning for all these unreal events coming in hot—we’ll see you there!

The Merchant of Venice

Pop-up Globe is back and better than ever, presenting you with one of Shakespeare’s classics The Merchant of Venice. Already deep in debt to his best friend, Bassiano requires one more loan to woo and win the wealthy heiress Portia, unaware that when the due date comes to repay the debt, he will be gambling for his life! Full of wit, drama and disguise that Shakespeare has become legend for, this is based on the performance tradition going way back to 1614, performed by the Buckingham Company—an all-male company of actors and musicians around the world.

Dinner in the Sky

OMG, it’s the last weekend to take in the views of Auckland with a delish meal on a whole different level —50 meters suspended in the sky! Taking the world by storm, Dinner In the Sky will be one of the most iconic pop-ups of the year. Take in the views of Auckland Harbour like never before, and feast on a gastronomic treat. From Wednesday to Sunday, you’ll have the choice from seven flights all by different Auckland hospitality heroes, including Simon Gault, Fraser Shenton and Phil Clark! Dunkirk—Friday Films

Settle in on the green with your creature comforts to watch Dunkirk, Christopher Nolan’s WW2 masterpiece. One of the great films of 2017, Dunkirk weaves an intricate tale connecting soldiers, civilians and families that is nothing short of epic.

The Aperol Garden

For one month only starting this weekend, the beautiful Deck at Ostro is transforming into an Aperol experience to say “cheers!” to our fave summer drink. The 5th Annual Brothers' Session Beer Challenge

It’s back and better than ever. As anticipated as the rugby world cup, the annual Brothers' Session Beer Challenge is back for its fifth year. The event that has brewers lining up to compete, it’s set to be the biggest little beer event of the year as brewers compete for the coveted trophy. Taking place at City Works Depot, you won’t want to miss a chance to witness history being made, or to try a new beer or two.

Avondale Guineas Irish Raceday

There are two kinds of people in the world: the Irish and those who wish they were. Auckland Racing Club’s Irish Raceday welcomes both in the most glorious fashion—and we suggest you channel your inner-leprechaun and head along! I Love Takapuna French Festival and Movie Night

The Dystopian Film Festival

Auckland Pride Parade

A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Auckland summer staple Pop Up Globe is back for another stand out season!
