If, god forbid, chocolate doesn’t do anything for you, House of Chocolate also offers spiced apple pudding, open sammies and Eton Mess to name a few. There’s also a whopping selection of handmade chocolates to takeaway and munch on later (go on, it’s the weekend).
This little Westmere café always seems hustling and bustling on the weekend and for good reason. Not only is Catroux as cute as a button, it puts out a selection of beautiful brunch food including their Auckland-famous fitness bowl, a cracking weekend-only eggs benedict and plenty of delish cabinet food for those on the go. Eighthirty Coffee beans are in the grinder so expect to sip on a primo cup of Joe.
Epsom’s coolest newcomer, Little Jimmy has been a massive hit with the locals and will cater to all your brunch and dinner needs this weekend. With a passion for 100% Kiwi food and tipples, this down-to-earth bar and eatery is a rad spot dishing out everything you could ever want from a weekend dining experience. Little Jimmy’s day menu includes the likes of Mibrasa baked breakfast (eggs, smoked lamb sausage, butterbeans and spicy tomato), toasted superfood muesli and a lip-smackingly good venison meatball sub. Once the sun goes down, the big, bold flavours come out to play. From sharing plates of burrata, pork croquets and sticky lamb ribs to larger dishes such as veal schnitzel, Akaroa salmon and a delicious vegetarian lentil dish, you’ll be one happy diner. Just don’t forget to sample their sourdough pizzas and rose jelly doughnuts.
An oldie but a goodie, Dizengoff continues to show Ponsonby cafes what’s up when it comes to the art of breakfast. This friendly café has a sunny spot along Ponsonby Road where it serves up epic scrambled eggies, creamy mushrooms, French toast and an Auckland-famous chicken salad. The menu may be simple, but boy do they execute it well. Bags a table on the street, soak up the sun and tuck into one of the best breakfasts you’ll ever have in Auckland.
