The weekend is the perfect excuse to hit one (or more!) of Auckland’s best cafes and restaurants and so to help you on your merry way, here are our top picks for this weekend!
The Lula Inn
One of Auckland’s hottest eateries-slash-drinkeries, The Lula Inn is a top spot to hit this weekend. With its warm Pacific vibes, exotic cocktails and mouth-watering fare you can sit back and relax while overlooking the ocean. Let’s just say, it’s one of those places where you’ll feel like you’re on holiday, despite being minutes from the CBD.
Hidden amongst the depths of K ‘Road, this Auckland gem is not to be missed. Their flat whites are ones for the books and we can’t help but mention their cabinet food—it’s insane, no exaggeration. Bestie is for the whole family and can cater to literally every dietary need. Indulge in the towpath cheese toastie accompanied by a chilli fried egg or, get your taste buds tingling with their fluffy hotcakes. Don’t even get us started on their coffee—one is never enough.
This Mt Albert joint is definitely the answer to all your weekend brunching plans. Whether you’re wanting the treat your body with a lot of wholesome goodness, or simply wanting to branch out into something a little more calorie infused—L’oeuf is your girl. Start your day off with their delicious cacao and coconut muesli, or perhaps try out their creamy mushrooms—you won’t be disappointed.
St Mary's Bay
A firm favourite—and with good reason—is St Mary’s Bay very own Mary’s. They offer up all the flavours you need to be completely satisfied by your café escapades. We recommend their smashed pea bruschetta with a sneaky poached egg on the side. And, for you all vegan honey’s out there, get amongst their vegan black sticky rice dish! Mary’s will have you wanting more and more, every weekend.
Located in the heart of our beautiful city is Ortolana—one of Auckland’s go-to cafés and restaurants settled right under the fairy lights surrounding Britomart. Whether you’re with your friends, family, bae or even by yourself—Ortolana is the place to be this weekend. Here at TUL, we recommend the mascarpone, mushroom, truffle omelette to anyone and everyone. But for those who you like to play it safe, their granola is not be missed. Beautiful food, in a beautiful location. Win win.
