Winter Raw #9
Auckland's home of live comedy is back with a winter season dedicated to rookie comedians. The Winter Raw is an open mic event, watch from the safety of the crowd or jump up and try a bit of comedy yourself (we recommend you've worked on it beforehand!) You'll have just six minutes to wow your crowd—anything goes as long as it gets a laugh. Who knows? You might find yourself winner of the 2018 Raw Comedy Quest!

Shepherd Trolley Takeover
If you’re an Aucklander who’s been dying to eat at esteemed Wellington establishment Shepherd Restaurant, then we have some great news for you. There’s no need to book tickets to Wellington because chef Shepherd Elliott is joining forces with Auckland eatery Culprit for a one-off event, Shepherd Trolley Takeover. Famous for his ‘all taste—no waste’ philosophy, Shep uses secondary cuts and ‘unloved’ ingredients, into mouth-watering masterpieces. Elliott will hijack Culprit’s iconic trolley service and create six seasonal bites and tastes to circulate on trolleys and trays. The Culprit crew will supply the main and side dishes, and the dessert will be a collaborative effort with input from both teams. All the ingredients will be locally and ethically sourced to produce a fun, fresh and delicious menu. You will also be treated to either a gin and juice slushy or Brother’s Beer on arrival.
Wednesday 9 August
It’s all about waffles at American restaurant Orleans for the month of August. They’re celebrating Waffle Month with Waffle Wednesday between 12 and 4pm with a special dish. This week feast your eyes and fill that tummy with a banana spilt waffle…yep, delicious banana dripping in chocolate sauce, topped with vanilla ice cream, slated caramel peanuts and popcorn! Ummm…we’re in!
Get on board The Road to Beervana—a week-long, countrywide prelude to the Wellington festival, bringing a range of beer-oriented events to a place near you. K’ Road’s Lovebucket is hosting Wild Ferment, an exploration event celebrating the marriage of sour beer and natural wine and investigating the similarities between the two. Lovebucket sommelier Meg Abbott-Walker will curate the event, taking you through four pairings of sour beer and natural wine, each with a cheese platter.
Thursday 10 August
Gin ‘n’ Juice
West Auckland beer producer Liberty Brewery is matching six of its hoppy, aromatic, bitter beers to some of the best gin hailing from the UK—Adnams and Pinkster. Whatever your preferred taste-profile—smoked or spiced, floral or earthy, citrusy or herbal—every palette will be catered to. Gin 'n' Juice will even feature a tattoo competition and to top it all off, there will be a ‘90s hip-hop theme to the whole shebang! ‘90s kids pull out your baseball jerseys, bandanas, baggy pants and crop tops, put on your backwards baseball caps and celebrate one of the most iconic decades of our time at this one-off ‘ex-beer-ience’.
