Another four-day week has arrived... aren’t we lucky?! And as we embark on the adventure that is 2018, we can only expect the best from the month of February. Why is this you ask? Well, Auckland continues to line up crazy-cool things for you to do, that’s why.
From marveling at the Auckland Harbour Bridge Vector Lights to zip-lining your way around Waiheke island, the options are well and truly varied, and pretty damn groovy. You can thank us later, here are five things to do in Auckland this week!
MAKE GIVE LIVE POP-UP
A pop-up shop worth showing some love to is kicking off this Monday! The Make Give Live pop-up is an event that will be held at Ponsonby Central from Monday 5th – Sunday 11th. Make Give Live is a business that offers local fashion and proceeds go on to benefit mental health and wellbeing for fellow Kiwis. The pop-up will include finished products, DIY kits and New Zealand yarn that will be on sale! The central group will be at Bird On A Wire this Wednesday morning at 10am teaching knitting and crochet to any eager learners. Get yourself ready for winter and help out an awesome cause! Yas!
The Vector Lights and all their awesomeness are almost at an end. So, what better way to spend your Monday night than by whipping together a picnic, roundin’ up your loved ones and marvelling at the epic display? You do have a day off tomorrow after all (thus, a glass of wine or two wouldn’t hurt).
ZIPLINING IN WAIHEKE
It’s your day off! And it’s a Tuesday! Yes, we are just as enthusiastic about this as you are. We’re recommending that you mix things up this Waitangi Day and opt for enjoying a mini break high in the sky. Those feeling like a bit of adventure can hop on the ferry and make their way over to Waiheke before being picked up by the EcoZip Flying Fox crew. After a day ziplining and taking in all that is the breathtaking view, you’ll head to an island winery for a superb dinner and glass of wine. Ah, pure bliss and an exciting way to make the most of your Tuesday!
WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE FILM FESTIVAL
Forget the clichés this Wednesday and head to a film festival that will not only push boundaries but inspire. The We’re All Going To Die film festival kicks off this Wednesday, and aims to challenge themes of fear and death in an empowering way. Intrigued? You should be. Founder, Stefan Hunt, explains that the film festival was inspired by his own anxiety and fear of the unknown. Head to Devonport for the festival’s debut and feel yourself become empowered to fear less and live more. Cheers to that!
VERONICA MAINE VIP EVENT
This Thursday, glam queens and trendsetters alike are invited to an exclusive one day only event! Head to Milford for the Veronica Maine VIP event for an inside scoop into what the Autumn Winter collection will look like. Early access will include the chance to be at the forefront of trends, exclusive shopping rewards all day long and a cheeky glass of prosecco! Don’t mind if we do.
VEGAN TRUCK STOP
Yes, it’s clear we have a thing for food-trucks and food pop-ups. Why wouldn’t we? The best of food that Auckland has to offer for a limited time only, has a certain ring to it, don’t you think? Well, have we got some fantastic news. Kicking off this Thursday, brought to you by the Food Truck Collective and La Cigale French Market & Bistro, is The Vegan Truck Stop. Some of the finest vegan food trucks will be around one day a month, accompanied by funky live tunes and a range of delectable bevvies. Expect to see some of the trucks that have a special place in our heart, including Judge Bao, Double Dutch Fries, Wise Boys Burgers and Lalele Organic Gelato. Mmmmmm.
