Queen’s Birthday at Queen’s Wharf
Jolly good! In true Queen’s Birthday fashion, Auckland’s spectacular waterfront hotspot, Queen’s Wharf, has it all happening! For another year, lower Shed 10 will be buzzing with maker’s market stalls and live performance; your chance to nab a range of specialty imported British and Scottish goods, as well as local Kiwi craft. Take a trip to the Brighton seaside with the bright lights and epic rides of an English Carnival on the wharf. Or, if Ferris wheels aren’t your thing, treat yourself to a decadent high tea upstairs at the Cloud. Blow-Up (1966) | Auckland Art Gallery
Forget about spending the last of the long-weekend snuggled in and watching Netflix–instead, head on over to the Auckland Art Gallery for a FREE screening of Italian director Michelangelo Antonioni’s film classic, Blow-Up. Following the story of a London photographer who finds himself part of a murder mystery, the M-rated picture features figures from the 1960s counterculture, by the likes of the rock group the Yardbirds and British singer and model, Jane Birkin. Jingles | Basement Theatre
After a sell-out season in Wellington, the original musical comedy Jingles is here to catch a few Auckland laughs at the Basement Theatre. Winning Best Comedy and Best Musical at the NZ Fringe awards, Jingles features hilarious reenactments of iconic '80s and '90s Kiwi jingles we all know, and love (to hate)!
