Things To Do In Auckland This Week

Woah, March is almost here?! Yup, caffeinated Aucklanders are feeling the full force of the new working year, and we sympathise—it can be hard to getting into the swing of things. But Auckland shows no sign of slowing down and there are plenty of things for us to do! Abandon those February blues and treat yourself to a week of epic proportions.

Whether it be exploring your creative side with a show or treating yo’self to a wine tasting, Auckland has lined up heaps of ways to spoil you. Here are five terrific things to do this week!

Monday 19

CELEBRATE THE CHINESE NEW YEAR

Celebrate the Year of the Dog the right way this Monday! The Stamford Plaza is hosting a night that’s set to include one hell of a menu and you’re invited. Showcasing specials such as five-spiced duck, kung pao chicken and a magic mandarin crème brulee, you know you’re in for a good time. Indulgence has never been more tempting and why resist when the food looks so damn good? The diet starts tomorrow!

Tuesday 20

MINDFULNESS HAPPY HOUR

2018 is the year of putting your mental health first! And with that being said, we think it’s fitting to mention the mindfulness workshop this Tuesday. Mindfulness Happy Hour with Dr. Sarah Dunning is a workshop that aims to educate how to practice mindfulness and strengthen parts of your brain. Join Dr Sarah at Evolve Health Specialists to learn how to unwind your mind and body.

Wednesday 21

THE WINE CAVE TASTING

If there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s that top-notch wine is something worth praising. We’re more than happy to be educated on the wonder that is wine and lucky for us, The Wine Cave is hosting a tasting this Wednesday! Celebrating the Chinese New Year, the Wine Cave's wine tasting led by Joe Wang in an event we're deeming unmissable. Be sure to join in for a discovery journey of the best wines, you'll be grateful that you did.

DROWNING IN MILK PERFORMANCE

Kicking off this Wednesday is the return of actress Saraid Cameron, who aims to ignite the Auckland theatre scene. The show, Drowning in Milk, will be performed at a custom-made pop-up bar in Q Theatre, with a drink provided for audience members upon arrival. The performance sets out to give audience members an answer to questions that are too awkward to ask someone. If you’re into theatre, or you're after a good laugh—this one is for you!

Thursday 22

COOL BEHAVIOUR PERFORMANCE

Lucky for us, this week offers another epic performance at the Q Theatre. Part of the infamous Fringe Festival, Cool Behaviour, is a show that is worth seeing. Presented by Ava Diakhaby and Frith Horan, this weirdly wonderful show explores all that it means to be cool in the 21st century. Looking at why we as humans try to “out-perfect” each other, with a dash of Beyoncé music for good measure, Cool Behaviour is one to check out!
