Calling all vegans! Boy, do we have some news for you. A mammoth picnic is coming to Auckland next month, and guess what? It’s 100% animal and cruelty-free.
Yep, that’s right. Sammies? Vegan. Pie? Vegan. Cupcakes? Vegan. No bacon and eggs in sight for your animal-lovin’ heart.
The event is a celebration of World Vegan Day, which falls on November 1. This year, the international event falls on a Wednesday—not the most picnic-friendly day of the week. But that’s not enough to stop The Vegan Society of Aotearoa from partying. They’ll be hosting the massive picnic on Sunday, October 1.
Kicking off from midday, the picnic will be held at Auckland Domain. Picnic-goers are asked to bring a plate of vegan-friendly eats to share with their fellow punters. It’s a chance to eat, drink, be merry and rub shoulders with like-minded people.
Not sure what to bring along? Google is your pal! There are countless simple (and oh-so delish) vegan recipes out there—both savoury and sweet. The result? A smorgasbord where you get to try ALL the things.
The Vegan Society aren’t strangers to hosting epic feasts. They host a potluck dinner on the first Saturday of every month at Grey Lynn’s Community Centre. So, if you can’t make the picnic, it's all good—check out October’s potluck instead.
Otherwise, dig out your picnic rug, whip up your fave muffins and head to The Domain. It’s time to get celebrating.
