Britomart’s Progressive Dinner is celebrating its fifth year with not just one but two evenings of pure indulgence. The diverse four-course menus will take you on a tour around some of the finest eateries in town—allowing you to taste the very best of what Auckland has to offer. Pencil this in your diary friends, it's time to wine and dine like the royal highness you truly are!
‘Relish and Roam’ kicks off on 17 August with some of Britomart’s best culinary offerings. Beginning at the beautiful corner spot Oaken, you’ll enjoy a delicious canapé and cocktail. When the drink is dry, you’ll head over to Ostro to soak up those picturesque seaside views over an entree and a selected vino to match. With the real hunger settling in, it's time for Amano. Nestled amongst the fairy lights of Britomart’s busiest stretch, you’ll sit down to a delicious main and yet another, much-appreciated vino. Relax and soak up the atmosphere until you hear Miann calling your name. This is where the real fun takes place with a hot drink and dessert of preference. Caution: it’s extremely difficult to choose when the gelato menu includes a “Salted Caramel, Macadamia Praline, Brownie and Roasted Macadamia Gelato” as well as a “'Lamington' Coconut and Milk Chocolate Gelato with Raspberry and Coconut…”. Pro Tip: Arrive hungry.
The second evening ‘Savour and Switch’ kicks off on 24 August with an emphasis on foreign fare. Whilst the previous selection of restaurants sounded unbeatable, this one is equally as divine and especially suited for those seeking a little spice in their life. Beginning at the Japanese haven Fukuko, the evening is sure to start with a bang as you enjoy a canapé and beverage amongst this enlivening atmosphere. From Japanese to Mexican, your entree and second drink is at no other than the Frida Kahlo-inspired eatery, Mexico. Try to resist ordering a bowl of that infamous friend chicken, as you’re off to Cafe Hanoi next where you’ll find yourself enjoying the main meal inspired by the art of modern North Vietnamese cuisine. When inside, you’ll forget you’re on a Britomart tour as the interior of Hanoi wipes away all aspects of little ol' New Zealand. You’ll have difficulty resisting phoning your travel agent when you’re finished with this one! And last, but definitely not least, is the classic soul joint, Orleans. Renowned for their shakes and fried chicken waffles, your dessert and last alcoholic bevy is bound to leave you rolling out the door.
The Brito Progressive Dinner is the culinary evening your tastebuds are waiting for. Beau or bestie in hand this is your night to indulge in all things fabulous.
