We all need a break from the daily hustle, some time to unwind, chillax and catch up. Well lucky for us, there’s a new spot to do just that. Say aloha to Britomart’s latest bar, Talulah! Pretty much a vacation right in the heart of our big little city, this is one you’re going to want to check out.
Tiki but not tacky, Talulah is the hot sister to recent new opening The Chamberlain. Found just up the stairs through the pub, you’ll be transported to a magical paradise serving up the best cocktails in town! Hang out on island time at the tiki hut bar, and sip away your worries on a funky resin bar, infused with tropical flowers. Or, sit back and relax while surrounded by local legend Margarita Vovna’s latest mural, soak up the hip decor, and let Talulah show you a good time.
Managed by legendary barman Dan King, the range on offer is in an entire league of its own. Featuring a drinks menu curated from bartenders around the world, cheeky Talulah exclusives and all the classics, this is sure to be a must-go on your next night out.
“Talulah is an exotic party girl that knows how to have a good time,” says Dan. “She’s the life of the party and you’re always invited.”
With each of the drinks works of art in their own right, it’s a tough call to choose just one! Our top pick would have to be the out of the out-of-this-world Blackbeard’s Ghost, from the tropical classics range. It features everything a pirate needs—light rum, Demerara rum, apricot brandy, falernum, lemon, orange, bitters and even garnished with a mini Blackbeard himself it’ll definitely have you feel as if you’re sailing the seas.
There’s no going wrong with the top staff favourite the Pandanacolda. Kicking the usual pina colada to the kerb, this gem hails from the streets of Paris and New York and features a coconut-infused dark rum, coconut milk, pandan syrup, pineapple, banana and black tea bitters. The Baron Pamplemousse is another stunner, both sweet and bitter it’s a blend of cognac, rum agricole, Bénédictine, St. Germain, citron, Pamplemousse, sirop de fassionola, absinthe and a cheeky dash of amers.
One of Dan the man’s top picks is the pearl diver, inspired by Don The Beachcomber, the ‘grandfather’ of tiki culture. You’ll find Don’s top secret gardenia mix, honey, butter and spices resulting in a rich decadent texture that’s perfectly indulgent. Served in coconuts, tiki heads and even alongside tentacles there's no doubt Talulah’s drinks line-up is every bit as vibrant as she promises.
Talulah makes it easier to share a cold one with a pal, with a selection of cocktails to share between two and six people—the whole squad can get amongst the good times. We recommend the Talulah original the Neo-Tokyo punch, with an oriental twist. this bad boy features sake, yuzu, lemon, coconut, vanilla, sherbet and a whacky blue foam.
Sound good? Why not let Talulah work her magic and show you a good time. So round up the squad for a tiki-tastic night out. You won’t regret it!
