Take a bao, Auckland. Or should we say take SEVEN baos? Because the steamed bun masters at Tucks & Bao are hosting a bao-eating competition. Yes, a BAO-EATING COMP.
If love all things bao (aka fluffy filled pillows of happiness), then we highly suggest you sign up for The Seven Deadly Bao, a challenge that involves munching your way through the restaurant’s seven signature steamed bun creations.
Taking part at the Newmarket eatery on January 22, contenders will chow back steamed buns stuffed with the likes of fried shrimp, pulled pork, crumbed fish and—of course—everyone’s bao fave: pork belly with crispy crackling.
The winner will not only receive bragging rights as Auckland’s unofficial bao champion, but they’ll also walk away $500 richer. Silver and bronze medallists will be treated to Tuck & Bao dining vouchers so they can devour even MORE bao.
