Dr Rudi’s Rooftop Brewing Co.
When we say Dr Rudi’s has it all, it’s no exaggeration. They’ve got it all—morning coffee, home brew, four kinds of ribs and two bowling alleys! In the heart of the Viaduct, with waterfront views that have to be seen to be believed and all the best local craft beers on tap, you’ll be perfecting your drink-in-hand bowling technique in no time.
Satya Spice And Chai Shop
There is, of course, chai here. But more importantly, this secret little spot specializes in beer and cocktails, as well as Indian street food. Satya Spice and Chai Shop’s interior looks like a scene from a fairytale—coffee sacks and fairy lights drape walls, and rustic spools act as tables. This is a very boozy fairytale, though, with over 30 craft beers, specialty cocktails, wine and even sake.
New York dive bar meets eclectic K Road at Madame George. There’s happy hour from 5pm, that will go down just nicely with the delicious Asian-inspired menu, starring perfect bar snacks like crispy taro chips and popcorn chicken. Serving up daily specials on both the food and cocktail front, this is cosy drinking den will turn into your central city go-to in no time.
With such a name, you’re expecting nothing but a welcome with open arms here. That’s exactly what you get at Rich Heart, a downtown bar that’s big and bold but also cosy and welcoming. Whilst the atmosphere might warm your heart, it's their drinks menu that’ll warm your body—with boutique wines, craft beers and Tiki cocktails, you’re sure to find the liquid blanket that’ll kick your mid-week blues far, far away.
This inner CBD former carpark has had a makeover, to say the least. Underpass has taken over and will become your new fave for after-work food and drinks the moment you step in. With cool inspiration from the Berlin bar scene, there’s a jam-packed schedule of live music and DJs. With the street food-esque dishes all priced less than $10, there's more buck to spend on their fine selection of craft beer!
Jervois Road Wine Bar & Kitchen
This relaxed bar is perfect for a drop (or three) with their sharing plates—mini burgers, cured meats and chicken liver parfaits. Jervois Road Wine Bar & Kitchen’s wine menu is wonderfully curated, featuring organic, natural and biodynamic drops. But it's not all about the wine-lovers, there’s beer and tea-based cocktails too!
We can’t stop raving about this secret new bar in Britomart. When you arrive at the bottom of the stairs to the entrance of Caretaker, be prepared for something special. Inside is a bar filled with vintage knick knacks, inviting leather couches and of course a brilliant cocktail list created with incredible knowledge and lots of love. Pocket Bar & Kitchen
This new Grey Lynn joint has a simple drinks menu with everything you’d ever need for a good night. Amonst their cosy interiors—brick walls, high ceilings and rustic timber, you’re invited to drink through the spectacular drinks list with housemade cocktails and craft brews. Plus, there’s a seriously good food offering too, with the likes of North African-spiced lamb chops, crispy dumplings, and Malaysian snapper. Pocket Bar & Kitchen’s glass roof will have you basking in the sun with a vino in hand late into the arvo.
