So throughout the year us Aucklanders have been treated to a mighty fine range of events dedicated to our one true love: fabulously fermented liquid, otherwise known as booze.
From cider, wine, bacon and beer festivals to pop-ups dedicated to whisky and all of our favourite liquors—we thought we’d seen it all. Here we were thinking that we’d celebrated a day dedicated to every kind of drop under the sun and that every last drop in Auckland had been sipped and slurped right up.
But alas, Auckland hasn’t run dry just yet, because a festival dedicated to sake is setting up store in our city. Hip hip horay!
Clear aside any plans you’re holding on to for Sunday 15th of October this year, because you’ll be heading to the Food & Sake Expo on at Auckland’s ASB Showgrounds, sipping yourself into a sake dream.
From 10am to 5pm, this festival will offer a glimpse into the finest things that Japan has to offer to your tastebuds and your tum. You’ll be able to take yourself on a journey of sips around more than 40 kinds of Japanese sake— which, beeteedubs, have arrived straight out of the motherland just for this special occasion!
What’s more, you’ll be able to sink your teeth in to super oishi (read, delicious) Japanese food, to really top your sake tasting experience off.
Best of all, your entry to this sake shindig is totally free—that’s right, a whole $0, meaning you can spend your hard earned dosh on the things that are most important in life, i.e. sake (wink, wink).
