If you’ve ever been to Asia, you’ll know just how damn cool tuks tuks are as a mode of transport, especially when you’re scooting around the city. Well, now you can do exactly that in Auckland. Yep, tuk tuks are set to zoom into the City of Sails and you’re going to want to hop on one ASAP.
The brains behind the tuk tuk’s arrival is Kiwi Connect’s Graeme Rivett, a Kiwi who once sped around in cycle taxis in London. Don’t expect the battered, holy-shit-I-might-die tuk tuks of Thailand, these modern day, three-wheeled bad boys are a comfy (and fun) way to see Auckland’s CBD. Better yet, they’re 100 per cent electronic so won’t put out any nasty fumes into our beautiful city.
If Auckland ain’t your hood, it can be hard to know where to go. The tuk tuks will pick you up from anywhere in the CBD and hoon around the waterfront, Victoria Park, the Domain, Parnell rose gardens, Albert Park and other must-see Auckland landmarks. You’ll just have to sit back and take it all in.
While the tuk tuks will be perfect for carting around cruise ship tourists and people looking to soak in the sights, we’re guessing a tuk tuk tour is going to become one of those things you should have done if you live in Auckland.
