We get it. It's cold and the idea of hitting the gym is too much to bear on a weekend. But, we're pretty sure (if you're anything like us) that the lure of a great breakfast may have you leaping from between the sheets and inspiring you to get up and do what they say—be the early bird that catches the worm. In this case, the early bird catches a good feed.

Here are seven breakfasts totally worth getting out of bed for this weekend.

Breakfast Board at Hello Friends + Allies

Epsom

Choosing between sweet and savoury in the a.m isn’t always an easy task. Hello Friends + Allies make things easy with their mammoth breakfast board. It includes a selection of yummy items including granola, boiled eggs and soldiers, prosciutto, haloumi, chorizo, house-cured salmon, pesto and vine ripened tomatoes. One things for sure—you won’t need lunch.

Berry And Cardamon Waffles | Mondays

Kingsland

We’re a sucker for something sweet in the morning and Mondays’ waffles are going to hit the spot. These waffles are made from buckwheat and served with chia jam, coconut yoghurt and real maple syrup. We love that we can eat waffles and be guilt-free, a much better option than the almond croissant you’d normally reach for come 10am.

Smashed Avo | Eat At The Shelter

Ponsonby

If you’re on a tight budget, then look no further than Eat At The Shelter. This concept store is the coolest thing we’ve come across in a long time. With designer clothing at the forefront of the store, once you reach the back there’s a café where we imagine all the hipsters hanging out at. Not only is the food delicious (note: smashed avo and midnight baker bread!), it’s an affordable $14. A definite must try.

Odettes Complete | Odettes

City Works Depot

Odettes is definitely one of our favourite breakfast spots, not just for the food but for the Carew Kitchen almond milk lattes—a total necessity. If you’re after a classic breakfast to fill you up then the Odettes Complete is the one for you. It has everything you need to satisfy your cravings—eggs, tomato, bacon, avocado, feta and sourdough. See you there.

Mushrooms And Gnocchi | Major Sprout

Auckland City

This Italian-inspired dish from Major Sprout has us dreaming about drinking wine and eating unlimited amounts of pasta. Instead of taking a trip across the other side of the world, get your quick fix here. The delicious dish comes with pickled oyster mushrooms, pan-fried mushrooms, truffled potato gnocchi, an egg and provolone. Need we say more?

Fitness Bowl | Catroux

Westmere

In need of a little fitspiration, look no further than Catroux. If you haven’t achieved the morning workout, at least look like you have by ordering Catroux’s infamous fitness bowl. This bowl of goodness includes sprouts, salmon, orange, greens and a poached egg.
