Salted caramel has been the flavour on everyone’s lips for the past few years and this popular new favourite has just combined with well-loved old favourite Whittaker’s. Established 120 years ago and remaining a family owned New Zealand company, Whittaker’s knows what Kiwi’s want. The iconic recently released two new flavours: an update on their caramel-filled Creamy Milk Chocolate and an all new 62% Dark Salted Caramel.
After nearly three years of trialling almost 60 recipes, Whittaker’s has nailed the perfect caramel filling: it’s smoother, it’s creamier, it’s more velvety and it’s all round delicious. Whittaker’s marketing manager Jasmine Currie describes it as a “buttery, melt-in-the-mouth” caramel and hopes it will become a favourite amongst the many New Zealanders who love caramel-filled chocolate. The perfectly smooth Whittaker’s 5 Roll Refined Creamy Milk blends beautifully with the new caramel filling for the classic caramel experience, while the Dark Salted Caramel is something new and a little more grown up.
To celebrate this delectable news, top Auckland restaurant Culprit collaborated with Whittaker’s to create a caramel-inspired dessert that will remain on the Culprit menu for the rest of May. This delicious, mouthwatering dessert is the Whittaker's Chocolate Mousse. Think milk chocolate, PIc's peanut butter mousse, sprinkled with chopped peanuts, caramel corn and soft serve ice cream. Try it and you'll die and go to foodie heaven.
