Free Things To Do In March

Close those wallets! Let’s be real, we don’t have the funds to spend this month, April is approaching us and we gotta save those dollars for hot cross buns and excessive amounts of chocolate. Not to mention the much-needed recovery from spoiling either your S/O or yourself on Valentine’s Day. Here are some free things to do in March so you can save yourself from drowning in debt.

Lantern Festival 2018

It’s that time of year again! March would not be the same without kicking it off with the infamous festival of lights and street food. This is a free entry event so you’re welcome to just go and appreciate the lanterns and atmosphere. Although the food comes with a price tag, the costs aren’t too bad and won’t overly-stress your bank accounts!

When: Thursday, 1st March – Sunday, 4th March
Where: Auckland Domain, Domain Dr, Grafton

Parnell Year of the Dog Exhibition

Parnell Art Galleries have brought together 20 New Zealand Artists and Celebrities (Leda Daniel and Erin Simpson to name a couple) and create exclusive ‘Dogs of Art’. They’re displayed throughout various galleries in Parnell, as well as retail shops and other stores. So get yourself a map from either a local café or gallery and start your journey through the ‘Dog Walk of Parnell’.

When: Thursday, 1st March – Sunday, 4th March, 10am7pm

Pasifika Festival 2018

Back for the 26th year, enjoy a free night at the Pasifika Festival and celebrate the diverse cultures of Auckland’s Pacific whanau. There’ll be 11 villages that represent a different Pacific Island culture through either arts, crafts or food. Performances will also be held at the festival so we can really enjoy the Pasifika atmosphere! If you’re on the mad saving grind and don’t have the funds for the goodies, head over next door to Pasifika Vibes @ MOTAT where you get to celebrate more Pasifika art and culture.

When: Saturday, 24th March (9am5pm)  – Sunday, 25th March (10am7pm)
