Sure, it may be duck season, but there’s no reason the hunters should have all the fun—it’s about eating, too, amiright?
In celebration of this annual season, Cloudy Bay Vineyard decided to set a challenge: create a signature duck dish designed to perfectly complement the 2013 Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir or the 2011 Te Wahi Central Otago Pinot Noir. And just who did they challenge? 25 of some of New Zealand’s top chefs. They accepted, and throughout May, you’ll get the chance to devour duck canapés, have an exquisite duck main, or share a duck platter as a group whilst you swish down a glass or two. Sounds quaklicious to us!
This unique trail encourages the concept of eating according to the season— this succulent game meat is a near-perfect partnership for these red heads. The layers of dark berries and cherry, cinnamon, sweet leather, soft tobacco and fresh herds cut through the richness of the duck to create a gusto ménage a trios you don’t want to miss.
Aucklander’s can start the trail at any one of these fantastic restaurants:
• Oyster & Chop
• The Pullman Hotel
• Monsoon Poon
• The Grove
• Sails Restaurant
• White and Wong
• Botswana Butchery
• Bellini at The Hilton Hotel
