Auckland has no shortage of waterfalls you can feast your eyes on. From Kitekite Falls in the West to Hunua Falls in the South, these picturesque spots have us spoilt for choice.
But there’s one secret waterfall that takes things to a whooole new level. Auckland is home to the world’s highest man-made waterfall and guess what? You can totally raft down it!
Yep, that’s right. There’s whitewater rafting right in the heart of Auckland.
There’s a tonne of adrenaline-pumping adventures at Vector Wero in Manukau. Trust us when we say: the exhilarating 4.5-metre waterfall is just the beginning at the epic whitewater park.
There are two rivers that can be tackled by either raft or kayak. The Tamariki River boasts gentle dips, while the River Rush will get your heart racing with its mammoth rapids. Looking for an extra dose of adrenaline? Scream as you drop down River Rush’s famous waterfall—eek!
First time? Not to worry! Your rafting guide will help you navigate the dips. Make sure you hold on to your paddles though—you’re in for a wild ride. If kayaking is more your thing, sign up for a whitewater lesson to help develop your skills. You’ll be ready to take (literal) the plunge in no time.
For something a little more peaceful, grab a paddle and explore the beautifully clear made-made lake. You have the option to glide across the water by stand-up paddleboard or kayak. There’s plenty to explore too—the lake boasts 9000 square-metres of calm water.
If you’re anything like us, all that adventure will have you working up an appetite. Wrap your fingers around a warm cuppa from The Rapids Café or devour pizza from Nick’s Pizzeria. For something a little “stronger”, the Sunset Bar has you sorted with cocktails and Corona buckets.
Vector Wero also offers group bookings and team building activities—talk about the ultimate back-to-work outing! Vector Wero also run water safety programmes for kids and the community. We like their style.
Forget the beach, people! Vector Wero is the only place you need to be splashing this summer.
