Chef Mikey Newlands and Amanda Rogers are the brains behind this new venue. Working in collaboration with Espresso Workshops’ Andrew Smart, the trio has crafted a new classic. With all the makings of a legendary eatery, the teaming up of mighty fine eats and fresh brews make for one heck of a dynamic duo.
“We try not to take ourselves too seriously,” says Mikey. “Ampersand is an every occasion, not special occasion place. It’s a space for both a date or brunch with your Aunt Peggy.”
Serving three menus daily, each offers a selection so mouthwatering they’ll entice you back for more. The breakfast menu boasts a range worth waking up for—including Mikey's top pick the breakfast ramen. Featuring soothing ginger, spring onion, and poached free-range egg it’s sure to put a spring in your step. For our fellow baconators, there’s even the option to add some cheeky free-range bacon. It wouldn't be breakfast without it!
You’ll be spoilt for choice when facing the lunch selection. Our top pick would have to be the hearty cheeseburger. Ditching the obligatory greens, the quirky burger features “everything a good burger should”. The house-made brioche buns, steak cooked to perfection and a house-made cheese worth raving about, make this worth the cheat day binge.
With all seafood locally sourced, the house-made spaghetti is a must from the dinner menu. Spiced with chillies and gremolata it’s a flavourful combo that's so epic that you’ll be dreaming about it till your next visit.
You’re going to want to save some room for dessert, duh. Not one to miss, the masterpiece that is the Ampersand Snickers bar. Featuring a dacquoise of fluffy peanut butter parfait and topped with a salted caramel ganache, this gem is the perfect balance of sweet and salty. And it's served alongside a foodgasmic chocolate ganache you won’t be able to get enough of.
