The North Shore seriously just gets better and better—and new opening Duck Duck Goose just makes it all the more taste-ational!

Nestled in an industrial estate in Rosedale, you’ll find this Southeast Asian delight adding their classic New Zealand twist on cafe culture and we couldn’t be any more excited. Brought to you by Willie and Yessy, this is a fresh, bright and airy space with white tiles, natural wood and lashings of greenery. It’s the perfect space to relax and unwind while enjoying a coffee and delicious food.

Let’s talk about that coffee! Brought to you by Espresso Workshop, there are two types of beans on offer. Mr White provides you with flat whites and lattes and the Ethiopian Sidamo will have all your espresso needs covered.

Not a fan of coffee? (Who even are you?),  barista An Ngyun, has created a latte menu dedicated to a healthy alternative. Our favorite is the Green Tea Matcha—mildly bitter, but made smooth and soft with the addition of silky, steamed milk. Other options include a black sesame seed latte,  a golden turmeric and ginger concoction and a lush, pastel pink beetroot latte. Luckily there’s a tasting menu comprising all five flavours—and we highly recommend trying it!

Duck Duck Goose covers off all the breakfast classics like eggs on toast and Best Ugly Bagels with various toppings. That said, it was the French toast that was quick to catch our eye. Starring butter-milk anglaise, juicy mandarin segments, crunchy, house-made nut brittle and toasted coconut, not only was it delicious, but beautifully plated and totally Instagram worthy. We also recommend the lightest, fluffiest omelet you may ever taste.  With goats cheese, rocket, Chipotle pepper relish and crispy shallots, it’s the perfect weekend brunch. Other options include spicy mushroom ragout, with mushrooms cooked overnight, toasted brioche, poached eggs, crispy leek and seaweed.

Co-owner Yessy is a trained patisserie chef—and you can tell. The cabinet is filled with drool-worthy treats. But don’t expect your usual cabinet fare, oh no! Here you’ll find oven-baked jackfruit cheesecake, lemongrass and coconut friands, almond and sesame mini cakes. Needless to say, a takeaway bag for feasting on later is totally necessary!

With faultless coffee, an epic menu and friendly service, Duck Duck Goose is your new go-to café on the Shore. Let’s just say, it’s seriously ducking good. (sorry, but we had to….)
