Vivace, the long-standing inner-city haven for Aucklanders, has found a new home on Fort Street, and it's bringing the same magic that's won the hearts of Auckland for 26 years.

Unmissable at the end of Fort Street, a step inside will have you face to face with the sprawling picturesque bar. Surrounded by vines and aromas of freshly brewed coffee, the hustle and bustle of the city feels ages away. The main dining area is bright and spacious, fitted with nods to Mediterranean culture and a sprawling wine wall (which conceals a private dining area).

It's a bold move for owners Mandy Lusk, Gene Gibson, Danny and Anna Phipps. The team couldn't be more excited with the fresh start.

“It was a case of finding the right space at the right time,” says general manager Steve McKenzie. “It's more accessible than ever, and we’re looking forward to hosting diners at the new space.”

Designed for those on the go, Vivace's brekky menu is the best way to start your day. It's available over the bar. Choose from the grilled Massimo's mozzarella on Ciabatta, scrambled egg and thick-cut bacon wrap, toasted granola, or prosciutto, provolone and Dijon mustard toastie. Paired with strong coffee, it’s worth waking up for.

The lunch menu spans everything from tapas to pizza. Bringing all the flavours we know and love from the original site, the quality is still impeccable. Our top pick is the sticky pork ribs. Drenched in BBQ sauce, with a surprising kick of chilli, garlic and salsa, they’ll have you sneaking in a finger lick or two. Or go the spiced lamb kofta fritters, tender and juicy and served alongside smoked beetroot puree, tzatziki and sumac.

For the main affair, it's gotta be the confit duck. Just think succulent duck leg with braised red cabbage pancetta, roast parsnips, crispy cavolo nero and parsnip puree. You’ll be hooked from the first bite.

Be sure not to forget yo’ greens, either. The Mediterranean Salad is fresh and light (a great side for any of the mains). It's packed with tomato, feta, olives, onion and capsicum, all drizzled with balsamic. Nice.

End things on a sweet note and dig into the baked apple crumble cheesecake. Hot, fruity and totally drool-worthy, the gooey caramel sauce and fresh cream are worth the seven extra F45 sessions you'll need to burn this monster off.

Vivace has been open for 26 years, and you learn a thing or two after 2+ decades in the biz. Their home may have changed, but the experience is much the same. So round up the squad and see why they call this one of the most beloved spots in town.
