We hope you’re sitting down for this one because this latest new opening is going to blow your mind.
Landing in lucky ‘burb Mt. Eden, Xoong is set to take Auckland by storm on a journey into a new dining experience we didn’t know we needed. Bold, brilliant and beautiful, there’s no missing this bad boy in the heart of the village. Enticing you in with a colourful display of lanterns is just the beginning—a step inside will have you face to face with a sprawling bar and enough neon lights to light up even the darkest of days.
Worth every second of its two years in the making, the space is a visual feast to say the least. From formal to casual dining, an entertaining chefs alley and private rooms, with a harmonious blend of both Chinese and Japanese furnishings, Xoong really does have it all! For owners David Dau and Minh Lu, having found the perfect space to bring their vision to life, the opening is an absolute dream come true. Along with executive chef Cameron Knox, the menu is as epic as the fit out.
“At Xoong, we’ve taken influences from both Japanese and Chinese cuisine,” says Cameron. “Peppering them around fragrant flavours around Asia, we’re able to offer a dining experience unlike anything else in Auckland.”
Cameron’s not wrong, with a quick glance at the menu, you’ll catch yourself salivating at the thought.
Get things started with the mini taco-esque style fresh catch tartare topped with smoked pepper mayo and tobiko it’s almost too pretty to eat.. almost.
You don’t want to miss the miso clams, a perfect balance of salty miso and fresh juicy clam, it’ll be love at first bite.
From sensational sashimi and a mammoth-sized serving of chicken wings, there’s a little something on offer for every member of the squad.
But the epic doesn’t stop there! Teaming up with cocktail connoisseur Jeremy Nivern, he and Cameron have collaborated to bring you a cocktail list worth raving about. With a focus on offering classics with a twist.
In and amongst Xoong's wonderland of neon hues, juxtaposing textures and unbeatable atmosphere, doors open this Thursday so round up the squad and head on down for a first look!
