Forget the upcoming parliament election, there’s a more pressing election you need to know about: The Big Burgerlection.
That’s right, folks! The city’s most mouth-watering burgers are on the line as they compete for the title of Auckland’s best burger—you can’t get more prestigious than that!
For the month of July, sing your burger love from the rooftop and make your opinion known because every. vote. counts. Eat your way around the city (remember: no burger left behind) and, once you’ve found your
soulmate soulburger, vote for ‘em online.
And, just when you thought things couldn’t get any better, every voter gets a $10 voucher to use at the venue they voted for. It’s the perfect excuse to go back for another burger, right?!
They’re no ordinary burgers though—no siree! Auckland’s most-loved locals are bringing their burg A game for the honourable title.
Botany’s Goode Brothers have combined the world’s two best things—burgers and pizza—to create a pepperoni pizza-topped burger (dreams do come true). Takapuna’s Regatta is whipping up a ‘surf and turf’ burger with venison and paua, while The Lula Inn is showing their love of sustainability with a zero-waste fish burger.
Meanwhile, Howick’s Basalt is giving things a sweet, sweet twist with their daredevil dessert burger. Bringing joy to daredevil dessert-goers, the burger stars a chocolate brioche bun, chili chocolate ganache and poached tamarillo. And, like any good burger, it’s served with fries and sauce—or kumara crisps and chocolate sauce in this instance!
Last year’s burgerlection crowned Sweat Shop Brew Kitchen as the best of the best. They’re serious about regaining the title, creating an epic pink (yes, pink!) burger for this year’s competition.
So, what are you waiting for? Get burgering and get voting—the city needs your help!
