Four of NZ’s favourite designers that reside on K Road—Lela Jacobs, Maaike, Ovna Ovich, Jimmy D
What went down:
Well, let us start by saying that this was a big turn out, which was to be expected with four designers showcasing. With it brought a whole realm of people, not just industry insiders, but obvious friends, family and supporters. These K Road Designers stay true to the aesthetic of K Road, and we could say the same for the guests.
Lela Jacobs was all about earthy tones, crinkle fabric, wool, sheer and of course black.
Maaike showed us a more feminine side, with silk dresses, bow hair accessories and bold prints. With a soundtrack to match, pumping party music, bringing the models into ultimate sass mode.
Ovna Ovich took a step back from the bursting energy and gave us a laid back approach to dressing. Key highlights included gathered sleeves, ruffles, a silky jumpsuit and amazing earrings.
Jimmy D wrapped up the show with poet Zarah Butcher-McGunnigle, who inspired the collection, reading four poems. No stranger to the K Road scene, Jimmy D presented its classic gothic, black, mesh and harness taste, with lots of heavy metal, bold zips and chokers.
What we wore:
We’ar black flared pants, Marle singlet, Mi Piaci flared heels, Ellery glasses.
There’s an interresting mix of people here…I feel like I don’t fit in. Um WOW Mary’s hair is amazing!! That undone ponytail looks so easy, why does my hair look like it was unintentional when I try replicate this? Um ok there are people behind me talking, RUDE. Yes, models bring us some sass, we love a bit of personality.
