What. A. Night. It’s safe to say that this year’s Vodafone NZ Music Awards was a cracker—The Exponents rocked up, Mick Fleetwood graced us with his legendary presence and Dave Dobbyn and Tami Neilson sang the unofficial Kiwi anthem.

What. A. Night. It’s safe to say that this year’s Vodafone NZ Music Awards was a cracker—The Exponents rocked up, Mick Fleetwood graced us with his legendary presence and Dave Dobbyn and Tami Neilson sang the unofficial Kiwi anthem.

Whether you watched it on the telly, sat in the snazzy VIP area, or braved the mosh pit, the 2015 Vodafone NZ Music Awards had some great moments. We were there to snap the red carpet action.

The moment Ranea did a tribute to Jonah Lomu…

New Zealand lost a great, great man this week. Various mentions of rugby legend, Jonah Lomu were dotted throughout the show, but the tribute by Best Maori Album winner, Ranea was truly moving. Launching into a haka, members of the audience stood up and joined in, bringing tears and goose bumps to many.

The moment Gin Wigmore and Anika Moa had a bit of friendly rivalry…

These two wooomen are among the queens of Kiwi music. They’re also banter queens, with Gin Wigmore starting her Best Female Solo Artist speech with “In your face, Anika Moa…”. To which Anika responds by flipping her the bird, and Gin drops the F bomb. Love it.

The moment Taika forgot he was on live TV…

Oh Taika, you funny human. Seems as though you forgot you were on live TV… being broadcast to the entire nation…

The moment Broods took out an award, then another, and another, and another…

Broods absolutely dominated last night’s awards. Talented brother-sister duo, Georgia (wearing a dancing girl emoji dress) and Caleb (rocking two variations of the man skirt) Nott are possibly the loveliest youngins’ in the NZ music industry at the moment. They won Best Group, Best Pop Album, Airplay Record of the Year, and the big papa of the Vodafone NZ Music Awards—Album of the Year. Dressed in white, Georgia and Caleb also did a killer performance of their hit song, Mothers & Father.

And the moment Shihad’s Jon Toogood may have shared the ultimate hangover cure…

Roti canai with chicken curry. You heard it here first.
